How To Plan a Costume Party

September 26, 2018

With Halloween just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start planning a costume party. Even if you don’t want to have a spooky-themed event, you could always plan a costume party for your next birthday. Like any kind of occasion like this, it needs plenty of preparation to make sure that you get everything just right. So, in this blog post, we will give you a few ideas of how you can make sure that the event goes off without a hitch.

 Party Details

First of all, you need to sort out the important details. The venue should be first. The most obvious and cost-effective place to have the event is at home, but if you are going to hire a place you want to do it sooner rather than later. Next up, you should start putting together your guest list. You can also design some invitations for an extra special touch. And since it is a costume party, you will need to have a theme so guests can get an idea what sort of outfits they need to buy. It could be a standard motif or something a little more specialised like a Superbowl party. Check out this Left Shark Costume as an awesome and funny option for your own costume. The details are what will end up underpinning your party.

Decorate Your Venue

The whole point of a costume party is that you are trying to set a certain kind of atmosphere, so choose your decorations wisely. You could do a bit of research online for the extra features which are really going to set the mood. But if you are on a tight budget, you may decide that you need to get a little more creative and take a DIY approach. There are plenty of YouTube videos out there which can help you out in your quest to make your party the best-decorated in town!

 Activities

Planning out a few activities can help the party out when it falls into a bit of a lull, so prepare a few things to occupy your time. The most obvious and simple type of activity is a costume contest, but it is still a fun one and a nice idea to have. Rather than just having a single award, you could make it like a real contest and have multiple different categories so that more people have a chance of winning.

Food and Drinks

What’s a great party without food and drinks? If possible, you should try to make them themed to set even more of a mood. For example, if you are hosting a 1920s-themed party, you could serve some classic cocktails like Manhattans. Since you will all be wearing costumes, it makes sense that you avoid foods which are too messy as these will end up ruining your outfits very quickly!
